This goat develops a shell inside its body that sticks out from the start of its anus and as the goat grows, the shell can shred its intestines if it does not evacuate it in time. It yields an exceptional cheese, fromage de chèvre marin or marine goat cheese, whose iodized, salty notes are the main ingredient for many regional dishes.
